DOE Looking at PV Project Near Uranium Tailings
The Department of Energy is seeking comments on an initial study to gauge the environmental impacts of installing a photovoltaic array atop or near buried radioactive tailings in Bodo Canyon a few miles southwest of Durango. The agency would not build or operate the 4.5 megawatt system, but rather inspect and monitor operations.

DOE, NREL “Go Big” with 1.5-MW R&D Turbine
The large-scale wind turbine, the first unit fully owned by DOE, will serve as a platform for research projects aimed at improving the performance of wind technology and lowering the costs of wind energy.
