The Westminster-based wholesale power supplier’s 245-megawatt Escalante Generating Station in northwestern New Mexico combines solar- and coal-generated steam to produce electricity. The anticipated advantage of the solar thermal application is the low-cost option it offers for incorporating renewable energy into established grids.
