Springs Utilities will contract with a biomass management company to deliver woody product to its Martin Drake Power Plant, with the resulting 85 percent coal and 15 percent biomass process enough to produce roughly 150,000 megawatts per year.

State Gets Fed Money for Trees-to-Energy Programs
Among other things, the funds will be used to help convert wood collected during wildfire- and pine-beetle mitigation efforts for a prison boiler in Florence; to fuel Boulder County Open Space and Parks’ biomass heating system; and to fund grinding, hauling and processing for Confluence Energy’s wood-pellet facility in Kremmling.
