Hickenlooper Forms Task Force to Address Drilling Regulations
Concerned about the number of local initiatives being put forth to regulate drilling along the Front Range,
the Governor hopes the task force will help determine how best to regulate the industry, and that it will clarify state and local government roles.
State Approves ‘Drilling and Spacing’ in Dougas
and Elbert Counties
Colorado regulators gave the go-ahead for Chesapeake Exploration’s“drilling and spacing” request in Douglas County, as well as two dozen others in neighboring Elbert County. 25 drilling and spacing units received approval, each 640 acres in size, for horizontal wells to be directionally drilled into the Niobrara formation.
