Gunnison County Coal Mine Expansion Gets
Federal Go-Ahead

The lease for 786 acres of federal coal deposits at the Elk Creek Mine, near Somerset, was approved by the Interior Board of Land Appeals, according to a bureau release. WildEarth Guardians and the Sierra Club had challenged the BLM approval for the mind.
