The Colorado locations that are part of the study include De Tilla Gulch, Los Mogotes East, Antonito Southeast, and the Fourmile East areas in the southern part of the state, and they could generate up to 4,182 megawatts of solar power if fully developed, according to the Department of the Interior.

Lawsuit Challenges Energy Corridors Plan

The lawsuit contends the designation of the corridors ignored any alternatives that may favor the development of renewable energy and accordingly align with and “perpetuate the use of coal-fired plants throughout the West.” As a result, the corridors “leave stranded and underserved” many areas with renewable energy resources.
