Rentech and ZeaChem Get Fed Funding

Two bio-refining companies with Colorado connections will receive new funding from the federal stimulus program, according to an announcement by the DOE. Lakewood-based ZeaChem Inc. is receiving $25 million for an Oregon biofuels project, and Rentech is part of a $23 million biorefinery project here.

State Gets Fed Money for Trees-to-Energy Programs

Among other things, the funds will be used to help convert wood collected during wildfire- and pine-beetle mitigation efforts for a prison boiler in Florence; to fuel Boulder County Open Space and Parks’ biomass heating system; and to fund grinding, hauling and processing for Confluence Energy’s wood-pellet facility in Kremmling.
