Lamborn Bill to Help Create Jobs, Energy Passes House
The House today passed the Domestic Energy & Jobs Act – a package of seven bills, including Congressman Doug Lamborn’s (CO-05) bill to streamline the energy permitting process on federal lands. Sponsors say the Domestic Energy and Jobs Act, H.R. 4480, addresses high energy costs hurting American families and crippling small businesses, and would help create thousands of badly-needed jobs.
Lamborn’s portion of the bill, the Streamlining Permitting of American Energy Act, H.R. 4383, removes roadblocks to American energy production, and streamlines and reforms the permitting process to facilitate increased energy development.
“The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act is one of more than two dozen job-creating bills the House has sent the Senate. With millions of Americans still out of work and struggling to make ends meet, Congress must take action to help promote jobs and low cost energy.
“Between 2009 and 2011, the number of federal leases in Colorado dropped by nearly 10 percent. That represents a loss of jobs and energy production that could help us be more energy independent. My bill will help bring more certainty to the permitting process, and help energy producers cut through red tape and bureaucracy that often holds up development.” – Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
