The foundation of the Global New Energy Summit at the Broadmoor next month focuses on the four pillars of Industry, Finance, Research, and Policy. It’s the coalescence and bringing together of people in these usually separate areas that sets this event apart from all others, according to Dave Blivins, the conference producer.
The Summit will feature internationally recognized leadership across these multiple energy-related disciplines to discuss the current state of the global energy marketplace, and to identify practical, multidisciplinary approaches to responsibly address global energy demands.
Summit panels will discuss the latest trends in innovation, policy, markets and capital across all areas
of energy, including innovations in Oil, Gas and Coal, as well as Solar, Wind, Water, Biofuels, Nuclear, Transmission and Smart Grid.
This year’s Summit will open with an International Expo highlighting exciting activities taking place in key regions including Asia, Europe and North America. Bob Bennett, former three-term Utah Senator; and Jigar Shah, CEO of the Carbon War Room (a Richard Branson/Virgin enterprise) join the ranks of keynote speakers at the 4th Annual Global New Energy Summit.
While serving in the U.S. Senate, Bennett held chairmanships and senior positions on a number of Senate committees, including the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, Appropriations Committee, Rules and Administration Committee, Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and Joint Economic Committee.
Bennett currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center where he focuses on budget, health and energy issues.
Jigar Shah, CEO of the Carbon War Room, and former founder and CEO of SunEdison, has broad experience in all aspects of the renewable energy industry. His focus is on distributed energy, solar, small wind, and fuel cells. As an entrepreneur and futurist, Shah has direct experience with solar manufacturing strategy, procurement, finance, accounting and venture capital.
“Both Bob Bennett and Jigar Shah are at the leading edge of energy policy formation and market execution. Adding them as keynote speakers at this year’s GNE Summit is very exciting for us,” said David Blivin, Executive Producer of the GNE Summit. “These two gentlemen bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience to the energy discussion. They will be great visionary resources for the Summit attendees.”
Committed Summit participants include Denis Hayes, Initial Organizer of Earth Day; Tom Daschle, Former Senate Majority Leader; Greg Leveille, Head of Global Unconventional Resources at ConocoPhillips, and leaders from NREL, LANL, Luca Technologies, ITC Holdings, Colorado Springs Utilities, EPRI, Patton Boggs LLP, Altira Ventures, DLA Piper, Intel, Arsenal Ventures, Wells Fargo, and numerous others.
