Xcel Seeks $142 Million Rate Hike in Colorado
Xcel Energy wants to raise an extra $142 million next year, with the money coming from another $4 a month on the average family bill and $5 on small businesses.
So that’s where the money would come from; the question is, where would it go?
The rate increase will cover costs such costs as $3.1 million for new equipment on power plants to curb mercury pollution, $400,000 for an employee-recognition fund and salary increases of 2.5 percent to 4 percent for workers.
There are dozens of costs and charges in the 10,000 pages of testimony and charts Xcel has filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission in support of the rate request. MORE …
