New LED Retrofit Makes Campus Safer

Littleton — The School of Arts and Design at Arapahoe Community College (ACC) contacted the Service Department at E Light Electric with a security concern.

The school had outdated, halogen exterior lights that created dark spaces in the corridors at night. The existing 75-watt, glass globe light fixtures proved to be a security hazard for the community.

E Light’s Service Department retrofitted over 49 fixtures with new, LED fixtures that not only brighten the area, but also save ACC money on energy efficiency.

“These new LED lights utilize 45% less energy than the old fixtures,” said E Light Service Manager, Bob Kacillas. All the lights are programmed on an astronomical time clock and automatically adjust to the seasons.

Additional lighting was installed on the south side of the school for an outdoor break area. The new fixtures include no maintenance and provide clean uniform light for added security.

The school is located on the southwest corner of Alamo and Prince, just south of Littleton Boulevard in Littleton.
