The Denver law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck has joined the newly formed CleanLaunch Technology Incubator, designed to serve entrepreneurs developing new technologies and to develop and nurture start-up clean tech companies throughout the region. Additionally, CleanLaunch named Brownstein shareholder Kevin A. Cudney to its board of directors. Brownstein attorney John A. Herrick was previously named an advisor to the organization.

As the newest member of this public-private partnership, Brownstein will assist CleanLaunch with stimulating the development and success of early-stage companies that will provide the next generation of clean, renewable and efficient energy technologies.

“Brownstein will play an integral role in shaping the future of both CleanLaunch and its client companies,” said Stephen Miller, president and CEO of CleanLaunch. “The firm brings a team of attorneys, including Kevin Cudney and John Herrick, who possess extensive knowledge of the unique legal and business issues that clean technology companies face. This knowledge coupled with the firm’s experience helping clean technology companies secure funding and launch products makes them a critical partner in this initiative.”

Along with fellow board members, Cudney will oversee the strategic direction of the growing organization. The board will also assist in guiding CleanLaunch client companies through the growth process and offering insight on legal, scientific and business issues.

“Colorado companies are leading the way in cutting-edge research and development of the next generation of clean, renewable and efficient energy technologies,” said Cudney. “The CleanLaunch Technology Incubator is a pivotal part of ensuring that our clean technology companies get the business and legal strategy guidance needed to stay ahead of the curve. I look forward to playing a role in not only the success of our client companies, but the success of the clean technology industry in Colorado.”

As co-chair of Brownstein’s corporate and business department, Cudney’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, public and private securities offerings, capital formation and securities advice and complex business transactions. Cudney’s clients include large and middle-market businesses, private equity funds, investment banking firms and emerging technology and biotechnology companies. Cudney will lend his skills and renewable energy start-up experience to CleanLaunch’s members.

CleanLaunch was founded with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Commerce to stimulate the development and success of early-stage companies who will provide the next generation of clean, renewable, and efficient energy technologies. CleanLaunch helps companies assemble solid management teams, secure adequate funding and accelerate the commercialization of sound product ideas into the marketplace. Incubator clients can be either “resident” or “virtual,” allowing CleanLaunch to serve companies in any location and at any stage of growth.
