State Gets $6 Million for Green Jobs Training
Reported by Staff
Colorado will receive $5,998,050 through the federal stimulus program for worker training in emerging industries, including clean energy.
Senators Mark Udall and Michael Bennet announced in a joint statement on Wednesday that the funds come from the U.S. Department of Labor under its State Energy Sector Partnership and Training Grants program and are being received by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
The state grants “will help workers gain access to good jobs, while supporting the sort of statewide energy efficiency strategies that play a crucial role in building the green economy of the 21st century,” Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said in the statement.
The Colorado funds will be used to train some 1,200 Colorado workers,
according to the senators’ announcement.
