This evening state regulators will hold a public meeting in Walsenburg to discuss a proposal to build a new power transmission line in southern Colorado.

Xcel Energy and Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association are partnering on the building of a new substation and a 150-mile transmission line, which would run from the San Luis Valley to Pueblo.

If approved, the project will cost an estimated $180 million roughly to construct, with service expected by 2013.
