Solving the Workforce Shortage in Energy Management
The Global Energy Management (GEM) program was created at the specific request of energy companies to meet their needs in an increasingly specialized industry and changing global realities. The GEM Program, offered through the UC Denver Business School, has caught the attention of energy companies world-wide and is becoming a viable solution to their succession planning for future leadership and recruiting needs.
The Problem and Unique Solution:
Problem: 40% - 50% of individuals in upper management in energy companies are eligible to retire in the next five years, leaving a serious knowledge and experience gap between middle and upper management.
Solution: The GEM MS Degree program was created at the request of the companies ( now on the GEM Board of Advisors) to address the growing leadership gap problem. The GEM MS degree is designed for those that aspire to lead in the top echelons of energy companies. THe GEM Advisory Board specifically ruled out making the degree an MBA degree, as the emphasis for energy industry management skills are needed.
GEM Courses: All GEM courses are taught as they apply to the energy industry; all professors are energy experts, and all group projects, case studies, and other learning opportunities are structured completely from an energy industry perspective. This is a Masters Degree for those who wish to make the energy industry their lifelong career, and who want to rise to the very top of energy companies or for those who want to start their own energy company. Using a unique hybrid-online delivery approach allows students to continue thier current employment, no matter where they live and travel to, and still complete the degree in 18 months.
